Bombay stocks returned to the black in style Wednesday, jumping 2.5% to end a three-day losing streak.The BSE Sensex added 292 points to close at 11,939. The gains put the index back within shouting distance of the 12,000 mark first cleared last week. Major gainers on the index were Maruti, which shot up 6.5% after posting a strong quarter. Also gaining were Cipla, up 6%, Tata Steel , up 5%, and Tata Motors ( TTM), up 4.5%. Losers on the index were engineering firm Larsen & Toubro, which fell 1.1%, and drug maker Ranbaxy, down 1%. Godrej Consumer Products fell 0.5% despite a 5% rise in quarterly earnings. Colgate Palmolive India slid 4% despite a 14% profit gain.
