Construction-equipment maker Caterpillar ( CAT) agreed to buy a rail and engine-component remanufacturing business from Finning International's unit O.E.M. Remanufacturing. Caterpillar also signed an initial two-year agreement under which O.E.M. will provide remanufacturing services for the business lines. Caterpillar will handle the sales and marketing functions. O.E.M. will continue to perform remanufacturing services under a long-term contract for Finning's Canadian operation to support the company's customers in western Canada. "O.E.M. Reman brings proven expertise in the remanufacture of industrial components, and has a valued reputation in markets that we are well positioned to serve," Caterpillar said. Shares of Caterpillar were lower by $1.57, or 2.1%, at $73.30 Wednesday.
