Switchmaker Avocent ( AVCT) agreed to buy Agilent Technologies' ( A) remote management business assets. Terms weren't disclosed, but Huntsville, Ala.-based Avocent said it will get assets including integrated remote management chips and cards, and software utilities. The deal isn't expected to materially affect Avocent's financial results for the first quarter of 2006. "The Agilent remote management business will significantly expand our agentless management platform to offer leading-edge solutions that match and exceed our OEM customers' needs," the company said. Early Wednesday, Avocent fell 26 cents to $30.47.
