After a damaging holiday-season drought, Microsoft ( MSFT) is boosting its Xbox 360 shipments, the company announced on Tuesday. Microsoft will now distribute two to three times the number of Xbox 360 consoles to the retail channel each week. "With component supplies in full production and third manufacturing partner Celestica ( CLS) now producing the next-generation console along with partners Wistron and Flextronics ( FLEX), Microsoft is producing more Xbox 360 consoles than ever," the company said. Production glitches limited availability of the new gaming console when it launched late last year; that in turn damaged Microsoft's efforts to build a commanding lead over rival Sony ( SNE), whose new version of the PlayStation has been
delayed for some time. In recent trading, shares of Microsoft were up 28 cents, or 1%, to $28.17.
