Bombay stocks fell Tuesday as industrial stocks gave back recent gains.

The BSE Sensex dropped 36 points to 10,905 after earlier breaching 11,000. Selling intensified in the last hour.

Major losers included Tata Motors, down 3.5%, Wipro ( WIT), down 2.3%, and HDFC, down 2%.

Carmakers Bajaj Auto and Maruti each lost more than 1%, and cement stocks slipped as well with Gujarat Ambuja and ACC leading the way.

The top gainer on the BSE Sensex was BHEL, the public sector electricals major, which rose 4%. Cipla rose 2.2% and Bharti Tele moved up by 1.7%.

Kochi Refineries rose 1.7% on the news that the company has lined up plans to expand and revamp its existing refinery.
