MEMC Electronic Materials ( WFR), a producer of wafers for the semiconductor industry, said it can't file its 2005 annual report on Form 10-K on time.

Accordingly, the company has filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission requesting a 15-day extension.

The company attributed the delay to the fact that its audit committee hasn't yet completed its previously announced review. The company had earlier announced that the first two quarters of 2005 would have to be restated. MEMC hasn't yet completed the restatement.

The company's shares fell 3.7%, or $1.37, to $35.68 Thursday.
