Pepco Holdings' ( POM) fourth-quarter profit rose. The energy company earned $82.1 million, or 43 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with $13.9 million, or 7 cents a share, a year ago. Adjusted for items, earnings were 18 cents a share in the most recent quarter. On that basis, analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call were expecting earnings of 18 cents a share in the most recent quarter. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 20% from a year ago to $2.06 billion. Analysts were expecting revenue of $1.78 billion. Fourth-quarter operating income rose 70% from a year ago to $208 million. Operating margin increased 296 basis points to 10.1%. Power delivery electric sales increased 18% to $1.121 billion and competitive energy sales increased 24% to $925.8 million.
