Bombay stocks closed the week on a high note, rising 1.8%. The BSE Sensex rose 192 to 10,765. Auto and IT stocks were the top gainers. The major gainers on BSE Sensex were Satyam , up 3.8%, housing finance company HDFC , up 3.4%, motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj Auto up 3.2%, and engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro, up 2.9%. India's top automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors ( TTM), gained 2.4% on plans to roll out a new passenger car. Integrated drug maker Orchid Chemicals gained 5.7% on reports that the company is in talks to license out its first antidiabetes molecule, BLX 1002. The biggest loser on the BSE Sensex Friday was private sector power generating company Reliance Energy , down 0.4%. Other losers included HDFC Bank and Dr. Reddy's Lab ( RDY).
