Starbucks ( SBUX), crediting the continued popularity of its seasonal beverages and espresso drinks, reported an 8% jump in February same-store sales. The coffee retailer's total sales, meanwhile, surged 25% to $585 million from $468 million a year earlier. In addition to its seasonal and espresso-based drinks, Starbucks said continued enhancements to its food offerings contributed to results. Starbucks has opened 744 new stores since the beginning of its fiscal year, bringing its total as of last week to 10,985. Shares recently rose 40 cents, or 1.1%, to $35.85 in after-hours trading.
