United Technologies ( UTX) reaffirmed its earnings forecast for 2006, saying it expects a profit of $3.40 to $3.55 a share this year.

The company, which makes helicopters, air conditioners and elevators, is projecting revenue of more than $45 billion this year. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call are looking for earnings of $3.53 a share and a top line of $45.8 billion in 2006.

Shares of United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., rose 40 cents, or 0.7%, to $58.90 Wednesday.
