E-Z-EM ( EZEM) said the City of Virginia Beach, Va., bought some of its Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion and its training variant for its emergency services staff.RSDL is a liquid skin decontaminant that breaks down chemical agents such as Sarin or VX in seconds, the Lake Success, N.Y., maker of contrast agents for gastrointestinal radiology said. E-Z-EM said the lotion leaves a nontoxic liquid that can be washed away with water. "Though the quantities involved are small, we believe that this purchase by the City of Virginia Beach confirms that the need for chemical weapons response planning is being recognized in local communities in the United States," CEO Anthony Lombardi said. "We are pleased we were able to meet the needs of the City of Virginia Beach and its emergency personnel, and look forward to assisting other communities with their terrorism and disaster planning as it relates to RSDL."
