Tibco Software ( TIBX) beat third-quarter estimates Thursday, although sales were flat and license revenue declined. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based integration software maker said after the bell Thursday that profit rose to $13.8 million, or 6 cents a share, from $8.6 million, or 4 cents a share, a year ago. Excluding certain items, the company earned $10.2 million, or 5 cents a share, in the latest quarter. That beat the consensus estimate gathered by Thomson First Call by one penny. Revenue was flat compared with a year ago at $105.9 million, although license revenue fell to $44.4 million from $57.4 million. Analysts were targeting total revenue of $100.5 million. Shares of the business software maker closed up 29 cents, or 3.7%, at $8.22. Shares gained 23 cents, or 2.8%, to $8.45 in recent after-hours trading.
