Starbucks' ( SBUX) business continued to shine brightly in July, as the company posted strong sales growth.

On a same-store basis, which compares outlets open at least 13 months, Starbucks' revenue grew by 10% over the same month last year. Overall, the company's sales grew by 27% to $409 million in the four-week period ended July 25.

In the year to date, the coffee chain has posted $4.2 billion in sales, up 28% from the same period in 2003. The company's sales are up 11% this year on a same-store basis.

Last week, Starbucks posted third-quarter earnings that were up 44% from the same period a year earlier. The company's same-store sales have grown by 10% or greater for nine straight months.

The announcement came after the bell on Wednesday. In after-hours exchanges, Starbucks' shares were recently off 18 cents, or 0.4%, to $47.70. The company's shares closed regular trading at $47.88, up 11 cents, or 23%.
