Chipmaker Altera ( ALTR) said after the bell that it expects sequential revenue growth to be at the high end of the company's 6% to 8% guidance for the first quarter.

Currently analysts expect earnings of 13 cents on $232.9 million in revenue, according to Thomson First Call.

After the bell, Altera shares rose 51 cents, or 2.5%, to $21.13. In regular trading, the stock closed down 11 cents, or 0.5%, to $20.62.
