Analogic ( ALOG) reported earnings of $6.4 million, or 48 cents a share, for its fiscal third quarter ended April 30, sharply higher than its results in the same period a year ago.

The medical diagnostic and security equipment maker posted $100.3 million in revenue for the quarter, 38% above last year's $72.9 million.

The company earned $2.7 million, or 21 cents a share, a year ago.

Analogic's third-quarter earnings beat analysts' expectations by 10 cents, according to Thomson First Call. The company's shares ended Nasdaq trading at $51.95, down 0.5%, or 25 cents.
