Sirius Satellite Names New CFO

Sirius Satellite Radio ( SIRI) said Wednesday that it appointed David J. Frear as its new chief financial officer.

Frear will begin June 16 and will report directly to the company's chief executive, Joseph P. Clayton. Frear replaces John Scelfo. In March, Sirius said Scelfo would leave the company to pursue outside opportunities. He was with the company for two years.

"David is the experienced CFO that we need at Sirius as we continue to grow the business," said Clayton. "His considerable knowledge of public company financial operations, combined with his solid reputation within the financial community, will be of great benefit to Sirius, and we look forward to having him join our team."

Prior to joining New York-based Sirius, Frear was CFO for Savvis Communications, a global managed network services provider.

Shares of the company were up 0.4% in early afternoon trading at $2.04.
