Qualcomm ( QCOM) was inching higher after the company affirmed its third quarter and full-year financial goals.

Excluding the results of its Qualcomm Strategic Initiatives investment unit, the company expects to earn 30 cents or 31 cents a share in its third quarter, and $1.38 to $1.41 a share for the full year. Analysts were expecting earnings of 30 cents a share in the third quarter and $1.40 for the year.

The company expects third quarter revenue excluding QSI to rise 27% from the $770.9 million it put up last year, which would come out to about $980 million. It sees revenue of $956 million, including QSI. Analysts were forecasting full-year revenue of $907 million, on average.

The third-quarter estimates assumes shipments of about 23 million MSM phone chips during the quarter, or a 44% rise from last year.

The shares were recently up 1.4% to $30.73.
