Shares of Advanced Digital Information ( ADIC) were jumping in extended-hours trading Thursday after the company reported solid results for its fiscal second quarter.

The maker of storage management software and networking appliances reported second-quarter sales of $100.6 million, up from $80.7 million in the same quarter a year ago. Sales were up almost 4% from the first quarter.

On April 29, the company had said it expected a second-quarter top line of $90 million to $95 million.

Net income for the period was $2.4 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with $2.5 million, or 4 cents a share in the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were expecting the company to break even.

After the close in Instinet trading, shares of Advanced Digital were rising $1.26, or 15%, to $9.80. The stock was the biggest Instinet percentage gainer after the finish of regular trading.
