Healthsouth ( HRC) again lowered its 2003 earnings and revenue guidance, citing the impact of current Medicare reimbursement policies and its own operating and capital budgets.

The Birmingham, Ala.-based surgical care provider expects to earn 55 cents to 57 cents a share on revenue of $4.23 billion to $4.32 billion. The consensus estimate of analysts polled by First Call was for earnings of 61 cents a share on revenue of $4.57 billion.

The company expects to produce earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $1.05 billion to $1.09 billion.

Healthsouth's shares closed Friday at $4.11, about $1.32 above their 52-week low. The shares were crushed over the summer when the company said new reimbursement schedules would lop about $150 million off its EBITDA estimates. The 52-week high is $15.90.
