Lumenis ( LUME) was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to sell its acne-fighting treatment device, ClearLight. It is the first acne treatment device to receive FDA approval.

ClearLight treats moderately inflamed acne using high-intensity narrow-band phototherapeutic light to destroy bacteria. The high-intensity light attacks acne bacteria, but does not affect the surrounding skin.

Shares of the stock were up 44% at $6.39 in Tuesday afternoon trading.
