Gilat Satellite Networks (Nasdaq:GILTF) ( GILTF) is delaying the release of its financial statements for the second quarter of 2002 by two to three weeks, TheMarker has learned.

The Israeli Internet-by-satellite company was supposed to release its results on Wednesday after the bell, but has deferred publication to an unspecified date in September.

As of writing the company had not announced the delay to investors. It declined to comment on the reason for the postponement.

Last year, Gilat published its second-quarter financial statements relatively late, but on time - on August 13. Its results then failed to meet analysts' expectations.

Gilat, which discloses its backlog once a year, was expected to do so in the traditional conference call following the release of its results.

In its F20 statement to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Gilat disclosed that its backlog of orders stood at $230 million at year-end 2001, compared with $300 million at the end of 2000.
