The High Court of Justice on Tuesday cancelled the pension benefits of 22 members of the fourteenth Knesset.

The court accepted the petition filed by the Movement for Quality Government in Israel against the 1999 Knesset committee decision to grant the aforementioned Knesset members pension benefits, despite the fact that their tenure was three years rather than a full four-year term.

The court's ruling saves the state more than NIS 9 million a year.

Despite the annulment of the pension benefits, Supreme Court Justice Mishael Cheshin determined that the MKs that have already received a portion of the benefits would not be asked to return them.
