Lantronix ( LTRX) earned $344,000, or 1 cent a share, on a pro forma basis in its first quarter, down from $625,000, or 2 cents a share, a year ago.

The Irvine, Calif., company said it expects to earn 2 cents or 3 cents a share in the current quarter, roughly even with analysts' expectations of 3 cents a share.

Revenue in the first quarter rose to $17 million from $12 million a year ago. The bottom-line loss was $1.8 million, or 4 cents a share, in the first quarter, compared with $23,000, or breakeven on a per-share basis, last year.
