Home sharing services like Airbnb may be more popular than ever, but while sleeping in someone's apartment may be quaint, there's still plenty to be said for the amenities of a good hotel.
Not just a good hotel, but one of the world's best hotels. TripAdvisor recently released its 2018 list of the world's best hotels, based on the millions of reviews in a single year by TripAdvisor users.
Stunning views, fine cuisine, white sand beaches, romantic villas, palatial rooms, infinity pools, prime locations, botanical gardens, yacht tours and impeccable, 5-star service -- even for your dog -- these hotels and resorts have it all. Can millions of people be wrong?
And the ratings aren't based solely on how expensive a property is. In many cases, these hotels have won the hearts of travelers because they provide extraordinary service and amenities along with great value, or unbeatable location. Some are palaces, some are in caves, but they all will provide memorable experiences -- or colorful vacation dreams.
These are some of the best hotels in the world.
