Ford Makes This Super Fancy Pickup Truck You Never Heard of Before -- Here's What It's Like

Ford (F) may be working through a change at the top, but still make one heck of a pickup truck.

Case in point is the new "King Ranch." If you ever wanted to feel like a wealthy cattle rancher that patrols his or her land daily in Texas, then Ford's F-250 Super Duty "King Ranch" will bring you closer to that lifestyle.

This enormous special edition pickup truck is a normal Ford pickup truck on steroids. The more than 6,000 pound King Ranch's 6.7 liter Power Stroke turbodiesel engine puts out 440 horsepower. That allows the truck to boast an otherwise insane maximum towing capacity of 32,500 pounds, capable enough to tow an RV motor home with relative ease. Ford says the truck's steel frame is 24 times stiffer than the prior version.

As for the interior, it's no slouch either.

The spacious cabin in the King Ranch comes standard with leather seats, 110v/400w inverter power outlet, heated steering wheel, second row heated seats, and Ford's Sync Connect system. A couple worthwhile options include a 360 degree camera, inflatable rear safety belts, and a massive twin panel sunroof. Pricing starts at $51,000 and tops out at just over $78,000.

Ford shares rose 0.4% to $10.97 early Friday morning.

Everything on the King Ranch is supersized -- the front grille is massive, the lights are huge. You will probably be startled a bit if a King Ranch comes up behind you on the highway.

A Ford spokeswoman pointed to this when asked about the wavy brown logo. The "Running W" logo signifies:

"The Running W brand was first registered in 1869. Some have said that it represents one of the ranch's many diamondback rattlesnakes or the Santa Gertrudis Creek, while others are sure it signifies the sweeping horns of a Texas Longhorn bull. The Running W could also be interpreted as a section of a continuing wave pattern - signifying the uniting of the past with the present and suggesting continuity into the future. Regardless of its meaning, the Running W brand is handsome and practical, designed to heal quickly, thwart rustlers, and grow with the animal that bears it - just as it has evolved with King Ranch through the generations. Today the Running W appears on both prize-winning cattle and top quality leather goods as an indisputable icon of the American ranching industry."
