First, Jeanette Pavini noticed an uptick in the number of robocalls she was getting. And she knows that where there are more spam calls, there will be more scam calls. Indeed, someone called her mother, pretending to be from the Social Security Administration, and told her mother that she had increased benefits but they needed to confirm her personal information. Fortunately, an on-the-ball caregiver told the caller she would take their information and that she would have someone get back to them. Jeanette says the scammer actually gave the correct number to the SSA as their callback number! When she called, and spoke to someone they confirmed it was a scam. It's another example of why we need to vigilant, for ourselves and our family members.
