The following are new investments that those saving for or living in retirement might consider for their portfolios. This week: an ETF that specializes in net lease properties.

Exchange Traded Concepts launched NETLease Corporate Real Estate ETF(NETL), an ETF that buys shares of real estate investment trusts (REITs) which specialize in net lease properties. The ETF tracks the Fundamental Income Net Lease Real Estate Index.

"Peter Lynch is famous for many things including the idea of investing in what you know," says Roger Nusbaum of Your Source Financial. "If you're interested in this fund, how much do you know about net lease properties? When investing in narrow segments like this it is important to understand that segment. Someone who understands net lease property investing will be able to decipher the merits of the companies in the fund. If that's not in your skillset then the fund is probably best left alone."

Want to know more about net leases?

From our friends at Investopedia: "Net lease refers to a contractual agreement where a lessee pays a portion or all of the taxes, insurance fees and maintenance costs for a property in addition to rent. Net leases are most commonly used with commercial real estate. In the purest form of a net lease, the tenant is expected to pay for all the costs related to a property as if the tenant were the actual owner. Net leases are a popular tool for commercial real estate investors who are buying properties for the income and do not want the headaches of arranging maintenance, paying municipal taxes and so on."
