Twitter (TWTR - Get Report) CEO Jack Dorsey met with President Trump Tuesday, the company said in a statement.

The two discussed "Twitter's commitment to protecting the health of the public conversation ahead of the 2020 U.S. election," according to a statement from the company.

Trump makes abundant use of Twitter to defend his administration's actions and attack political opponents and the media.

Tuesday's meeting came "at the president's invitation," according to the statement.

In a tweet, Trump said the two had discussed a number of topics.
