President Trump tweeted late Friday that he would make an announcement Saturday afternoon about the ongoing government shutdown and dispute over funding for a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.

The move comes as the partial government shutdown enters its fifth week with no signs of a resolution.

Some 800,000 federal employees have been going without pay while Trump and Congress have remained at loggerheads over funding for his proposed wall, a central promise of his campaign.

I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse.
