Companies bidding on the Trump administration's proposed border wall have been given more time, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The new deadline for proposals to build the wall along the Mexican border is April 4, instead of Wednesday as originally stated, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed.

Some 20 companies will be selected by the federal government following submission of the 10-page proposals. Some companies will then be required to build prototypes somewhere in San Diego County,  the department said, according to the Union-Tribune.
