Summers: Job Growth to Continue
The White House's top economic adviser said the economy would continue to create jobs but would do so slowly.
WASHINGTON (
) -- White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers said Sunday that the economy will continue to create jobs but will do so slowly.
Speaking on television, Summers said putting more Americans back to work is President Obama's "preoccupation," according to an
Associated Press
report.
Summers said that the unemployment rate would fall slowly because more people will seek jobs as the economy recovers, the report said.
Summers also said he believes Congress will pass an overhaul of regulation for the financial industry, the report added.
Summers was speaking on
ABC's
"This Week" and
CNN's
"State of the Union."
