House Speaker Paul Ryan has told President Donald Trump that he does not have the votes necessary to pass the American Health Care Act, the bill Congressional Republicans have put forth to repeal and replace Obamacare, reports CNN. But the White House continues to insist a vote will happen.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer at a briefing on Friday told reporters a vote on the bill is still set for 3:30 p.m. ET. "The president has been working the phones and having in-person meetings since the American Health Care Act was introduced. He's left everything on the field when it comes to this bill," he said.
The bill was initially set for a Thursday vote but was postponed to Friday. The Trump administration is reportedly demanding a vote, and if the bill fails, it will allow the Affordable Care Act to remain.
