Peter Thiel, Supreme Court justice? With Donald Trump in the White House, perhaps.

The billionaire PayPal (PYPL) - Get PayPal Holdings Inc Report cofounder who recently brought down Gawker has been telling friends the Republican presidential nominee will nominate him to the Supreme Court, according to a report from The Huffington Post. The publication also holds Trump "deeply loves" Thiel and that people in the candidate's inner circle are chattering about the possibility, though Trump's offers often fail to materialize in real life.

Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks denied Thiel had been offered a Supreme Court seat or that it was up for discussion. Thiel spokesman said the billionaire "hasn't had any conversations" about a nomination and "has no interest in the job."

There are no official qualifications for becoming a Supreme Court justice, such as age, education, profession or native-born citizenship. Were he to be appointed, the 48-year-old Thiel would be the youngest justice on the court -- currently, Justice Elena Kagan, age 56, holds that claim.

Thiel does have legal training: he received a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1992 and subsequently clerked for Judge J.L. Edmonson of the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit for a year after graduation.

Of course, Thiel's professional interests have been more tied to technology and investing. He cofounded PayPal in 1998 and was one of the first investors in Facebook (FB) - Get Facebook, Inc. Class A Report . He is currently managing partner of The Founders Fund, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm.

Thiel has made no secret of his affinity for Trump this election cycle. He spoke on the candidate's behalf at the Republican National Convention in July, saying that "nobody is being honest" about what he perceives as the country's economic decline except Trump. "When Donald Trump asks us to Make America Great Again, he's not suggesting a return to the past," he said. "He's running to lead us back to that bright future."

Trump in May released a list of names he might appoint to the Supreme Court, and Thiel's name was not on it.
