On Tuesday President Trump signed a bill that rolls back a number of Obama-era regulations, including some relating to education, as the new administration works to eliminate regulations in which it feels the previous administration overreached.
The regulation was issued by the education department last October and required that federally funded teacher prep programs be evaluated based on the academic outcomes of those teachers' students, the Los Angeles Times reports. Republicans are opposed to the rule, believing it is a state issue.
The other education regulation had to do with ways to identify and improve failing schools.
"I will keep working with Congress, with every agency, and most importantly, the American people, until we eliminate every unnecessary, harmful and job-killing regulation that we can find," Trump said, according to the LA Times.
