) -- Barack Obama is more liked on Facebook than the final four Republican presidential hopefuls combined.

Granted, the president has about a four-year head start on the others, but it's an advantage that gives him some 22.3 million more likes than Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul. The president's racked up a

total of 24.9 million likes

vs. just 2.6 million for his GOP counterparts.

Facebook, which filed Wednesday for a

$5 billion IPO, has become a crucial tool used by campaigns to extend its network and amplify its message among voters.

Romney, the second most followed 2012 presidential candidate, has about

1.4 million likes on his Facebook page, while

Paul,

Gingrich and

Santorum trail the front-runner at more than 824,100, 268,400 and 99,800, respectively.
