President Donald Trump is working to create a better environment for both small and big businesses here in the U.S., he claimed during a meeting with small business owners in the Oval Office on Monday morning.

"We want to make life easier for these small business owners," he said. "That's what we're here for today."

Business people understand that his mission is to "simplify, reduce and eliminate regulations," Trump said.

Regulations could be rolled back by as much as 75%, or possibly more, he claimed.

"We want to end the unfairness between small and big business caused by regulation -- regulation that's actually been horrible for big business, but it's been worse for small business."

Big businesses are already "thrilled" about Trump's plans based on markets hitting all-time highs since his election, he asserted. "The market went massively up. When I was elected, a lot of the really smart people went out and bought a lot of stock. And they've been rewarded."

However, Monday thus far is the worst trading day of 2017.

The new administration also wants to "simplify and lower taxes" so that small businesses can spend their time and money on helping customers and expanding their companies, Trump said.

Small businesses have been treated "very, very badly," but that's all coming to an end, he claimed.

"The American dream is back," Trump announced. "We're going to create an environment for small business like we haven't had in many, many decades. This isn't a knock on President Obama. This is a knock on many presidents preceding me. A knock on everybody. It got particularly bad in the last eight years, but it's not a knock on anybody. It's a knock on many."
