Who Says Money Is a 'Man Thing?'

Women can create their own wealth and enjoy a loving family, too.

Not so long ago, men made and managed the household money. The man brings home the bacon was the traditional mindset. It created an apathetic relationship between women and money. How could you feel good and confident about something that you knew virtually nothing about? Many of us were conditioned this way.

I know, I was as a young girl. But I also figured out that if I were ever to achieve the wealth I wanted, I had to change how I thought and felt about money and overcome that conditioning. I was determined to do that. I did my own research on money, spoke to just about every wealthy person I knew and found mentors -- people who would teach me, guide me and show me the way.

For me, it all changed and became real in my first "grown-up" job. I was working with a number of men, and a few women, who were entrepreneurs doing what they wanted to do. They weren't restricted to working a set schedule, following another company's rules for business or confined to a limiting job description. And they were incredibly successful creating their own, unique business ventures. I wanted that for myself.

Women can't have it all? Says who? Within seven years, I've become a multi-millionaire with all the joy and support of a wonderful family, too. It takes commitment and it takes team.

I often say a man is not a plan. OK, so what is? Today, in my Live Out Loud community, I work with thousands of women across the country -- single women, married women, divorced women, widows and single moms. I've helped countless women, and men, make the leap from employee to entrepreneur. Teachers who opened tutoring businesses. Cooks who opened their own catering companies. Human resource managers who opened staffing agencies. The list goes on and on.

Everyone has skills they can use to make more money. All you need is the commitment to become wealthy, to define your skill sets and a Wealth Cycle plan. The women I work with are all determined to learn to earn; to do what it takes to overcome their conditioning, take control of their lives and become truly wealthy. You need a plan, too!

The plan starts with your Cash Machine. The fastest path to cash and true financial success -- to building your wealth -- comes from creating your own business, or Cash Machine as I call it. Unlike traditional entrepreneurship, the Cash Machine is simple to start and sustain. Once you define your skill sets, do your research and build your team, you're on your way.

My recently published best-seller,

The Millionaire Maker's Guide to Creating a Cash Machine for Life

, is a step-by-step guide for launching your own Cash Machine -- and for fixing one you might already have. It's a how-to for the entrepreneur in everyone.

Most people are focused on debt -- getting out of it -- and forget about creating new wealth. Why? It doesn't make sense. If you don't have enough money, the goal should be to make more. Not limit your life based on the debt you owe. The Cash Machine is about expanding your life, not scrimping and saving. It's about making money first and managing your debt second.

TheStreet Recommends

Your first Cash Machine as an entrepreneur might not be that dream business that you have always had in the back of your mind. But it will be a business venture that generates cash flow because you are doing it using the skills, knowledge and experience you already have.

And, just as importantly, you will learn to earn as an entrepreneur and change your conditioning and mindset around money. Why not be the one to

"bring home the bacon"

-- and then some? Don't limit yourself in anything you do. Live the life you want to, not the one you have to.
