What They Do: Chain of retail stores specializing in arts and craft supplies, home accents and holiday décor. The company currently operates 432 stores in 35 states. Types of Part-Time Positions Available: Cashiers and retail associates. (There are also warehouse positions available at their facility in Oklahoma City.)Desired Hours Per Week: Varies by position and location. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stores are closed on Sundays and major holidays. Starting Pay: $10 an hour.Benefits: Store discounts.Requirements: Previous retail experience or expertise with arts and crafts is preferred. The Inside Scoop: Must be able to pass a basic math test. Specific departments include framing, wearable art and floral design, so if you have an interest or expertise in any of these areas, you'll have a better chance at getting hired as a demonstrator or floor associate. Desired Hours Per Week: Varies, but generally will include some nights, weekends and/or holidays.Starting Pay: Around $8 an hour, plus commissions on certain products. There are also special promotions and incentives that give you the opportunity to earn bonuses. Benefits: Limited medical, dental and life insurance; company discounts.Requirements: Good customer service and communication skills. Prior retail experience and knowledge of electronics and tech products is helpful.The Inside Scoop: Must be able to function in a hectic, sometimes stressful retail environment. You'll be helping a steady flow of customers (sometimes more than one at a time). You will also be expected to promote certain products and Radio Shack programs/services. Tutors/teachers need a minimum of 60 college credits, but will earn more if they have a college degree or teaching certification and experience. Must be able to pass a background check.
