Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s combination toaster oven and toaster is being recalled due to a fire hazard. In some models, the toaster remains on after the toast pops up.
The company, W.P. Appliances, received three reports of this problem. No injuries have been reported. About 1,500 of the toasters, sold in Frontgate catalogs nationwide from November 2008 to March 2009 for about $100 are affected by the recall, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission.
The recalled toasters are black and silver and have a silver handle on the oven door, three black knobs for controlling cooking, and a black push-down lever for toasting bread in two slots, the CPSC says.
The back of the recalled toasters have an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) label with the model number WPTOT010 and date code 3608 or 3908 and were manufactured by Kingpower Electrical Appliances of China. The recall does not include toasters with model numbers BTOT0010 or WPTOT010 and date codes 0207, 0407, 0607, 0807, 4508, or 0309.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled appliances immediately and contact W.P. Appliances at (800) 275-8273 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for instructions on how to return the item for a free replacement.
