Even if you don’t need to mill any flour, a windmill can be the perfect way to live out your medieval fantasies.
Winds of Change
Windmills have graced rural and semi-rural landscapes since the 10th century. Historically, the power they generated was used for very specific processes like pumping water across fields and grinding grain into meal. Today, the increasingly popular green movement has brought the idea of harnessing wind power to the modern masses. Since most households have little use for an historic windmill, many get converted or combined with newer residences both rustic and luxurious. Photo Credit: Vincent van der Pas
