The position: Science writer for American Chemical Society

Washington, D.C.

Job duties: Research, write, edit and coordinate a broad range of science-related materials under strict deadlines. Contribute to a weekly news digest that summarizes ACS research. Ensure successful on-time completion of assigned products and projects. Maintain a high level of current awareness of news and issues pertaining to the chemical sciences and the ACS. Train and supervise other staff members and freelancers as needed.

American Chemical Society is an independent membership organization that represents professionals in all fields of chemistry and related sciences.

Requirements: Requires a college degree in journalism or related area, or equivalent experience. Candidates with an advanced degree are preferred. Applicants must have at least seven years of related experience in writing, editing and reporting science for the mass media.
