The position: Marine project director for Central Coast Groundfish Project at the Nature Conservancy

Location: Monterey, Calif.

Job duties: Plays a leading role in integrating marine conservation with a new sustainable fishery model. Manages the conservancy's fishery assets and coordinates on-the-water fishing demonstration projects. Serves as the main contact for government, academic and industry partners. Cultivates new working relationships with important fishery and community stakeholders. Finds innovative ways to advance marine conservation alongside important community and industrial goals.

The company: The Nature Conservancy is a major global conservation organization, operating in all 50 states and more than 30 countries. The mission of the Nature Conservancy is to preserve the Earth's plants, animals and natural communities by protecting the land and waters they need to survive.

Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree and seven years of experience in conservation practice. Should have experience with basic areas of fundraising such as identifying donor prospects. Requires experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners. Experience in partnership development is preferred, as is knowledge of politics with respect to environmental affairs. Ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience influencing, developing and implementing conservation policy. Must be comfortable working in variable weather conditions, at remote locations and/or on difficult terrain.
