The position: Food safety scientist and microbiologist for Kraft Foods (Stock Quote: KFT)

Location: East Hanover, N.J.

Job duties: Will have overall responsibility for the execution and implementation of key food safety programs for the company's snacks category. Also acts as an internal consultant to various teams — including operations, sector quality, marketing and research & development — to develop product safety and stability. Job involves reviewing food safety programs at external manufacturers and suppliers. Will identify and communicate food safety risks to internal departments such as the business unit, and provide recommendations and actionable advice on food safety programs. Will also serve as an external liaison to ensure the most relevant information and issues are identified and incorporated in food safety visits.

Requirements: Requires master's degree or PhD in food safety or microbiology or a related field, plus one to two years experience in applied microbiology or a similar discipline. Must have knowledge of HACCP, GMP, pathogen environmental monitoring and facility/equipment design. Must have excellent communication skills, including good presentation and report writing abilities. Ability to initiate projects and see them through to completion is a must. Also requires basic computer skills, and ability to travel 50% of the time.
