NEW YORK (MainStreet) – Restaurant.com regularly offers pretty bonkers deals, like $25 gift certificates to restaurants for just $10, but this week the site is stepping things up by slashing the price of these certificates to just $2, and throwing in a $10 gift card to boot. That means you can get a $25 meal at a restaurant and wind up with $8 more than you had when you started.

The deal can be unlocked with the coupon code TASTY, which you can use to get a $25 gift certificate on the site at 80% off the purchase price. Because most of the $25 certificates on the site cost $10 to begin with, that means the purchase price comes down to $2, though some certificates will cost a little more.

There also may be some minimum purchase requirements to use the gift certificate. For instance, this excellent South African restaurant in my neighborhood offers a $25 gift certificate for $10 on the site (which comes down to $2 with the coupon code), but you have to spend at least $35 to apply it. The restaurant will also add an automatic 18% gratuity to the pre-coupon price as a hedge against people who don’t realize you’re supposed to tip on the actual cost of the meal.

But wait, there’s more! For each order made during the promotion you’ll also get a $10 gift card that can be put toward your next purchase on Restaurant.com. While the gift card can’t be used in conjunction with the 80% off coupon code, you can use it to buy another $25 gift card at the regular $10 price (note, though, that you can only use one gift certificate per restaurant visit). So that means you can get two $25 meals for just $2, for a total discount of $48. Sounds like a good deal to us.

Both the coupon code and the bonus gift card offer last until midnight PST on Thursday, March 31.
