No, that’s not a joke. Apple (Stock Quote: AAPL) announced today that they sold so many iPads in America that they must delay launching the device abroad.

The company has reportedly sold 500,000 iPads in the first week, 300,000 of which were sold on the first day alone. However, according to BusinessInsider, Apple is a bit overwhelmed by the incredible demand for the product and has decided to wait an extra month before selling the iPad to rest of the world.

“[D]emand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad,” they said in a press release. “Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May.”

Poor Apple, they are too popular for their own good. They better not delay too long though since there are already a ton of iPad competitors on sale at home and abroad.
