The egg sculptures aren't just pretty to look at, though. The public can get in on the action by downloading the smartphone app The Big Egg Hunt NYC, available via iTunes and Google Play, to reveal egg locations across the city. By checking in at each egg that you find, you'll be entered into a contest to win one of three precious egg-shaped gemstone pendants by Fabergé ranging from $30,000 to $48,000 each.
When the hunt is over, all egg sculptures will be on display at Rockefeller Center in a finale exhibition that is open to the public free of charge from April 18 to 25. The eggs will be auctioned online via Paddle8 through April 26, and in person at an invitation-only live auction on April 22. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

The Great Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt, Bowness-on-Windermere, U.K.
All ages are invited to hop around in search of 50 handcrafted ceramic eggs at the Great Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt, hosted April 16 by the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere, U.K. To locate the eggs, which are hidden around the scenic Lake District National Park, participants can use their smartphones to view a Google map with clues and markers. The organizers will then remove that egg marker from the live map.
Top prizes will total £10,000; the first prize includes a two-night hotel stay in London with train travel and tickets to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for a family of four, and other top prizes include luxury overnight stays at Lake District hotels.
Although admission is free, visitors can donate £2 to WaterAid to gain access to the Google map.
