were down around 17% after the forest-products company said third-quarter profit would fall short of forecasts.

The company's shares were down $8.48 at $41.25 in recent trading Tuesday after it warned that low wood prices and duties on imports of Canadian softwood lumber would hurt its quarterly earnings.

Weyerhaeuser, based in Federal Way, Washington, said it expects earnings of 5 cents to 10 cents a share. Analysts had been expecting earnings of 35 cents a share.
