NEW YORK (

TheStreet

) -- A suspicious box found on the corner of Wall Street and Broadway, just outside the

New York Stock Exchange

, drew a bomb-squad investigation Thursday that closed several blocks surrounding the NYSE for about an hour just after the closing bell.

But the box was a false alarm, and the all-clear was given at about 5 p.m. EDT.

No buildings were evacuated.

According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the 4 and 5 trains of the NYC subway system were directed to bypass the Wall Street station. The MTA cautions that subway riders should expect delays on both lines.

Broadway between Liberty Street and Exchange Place was temporarily closed to traffic, as was the pedestrian-only block of Wall Street fronting the NYSE, between Broadway and Nassua.
