NEW YORK (TheStreet) --  Visa (V) - Get Report , Delta (DAL) - Get Report , and VF Corp. (VFC) - Get Report are leading the way in their industries, says Mark Dawson, CIO of Rainier Investment Management.

Dawson told TheStreet TV that he's sticking with Visa because of the resiliency of the credit card company's model and its ability to continue to grow the business in the ongoing move from cash transactions to electronic payments. "It's not a cash cow," he said, "but Visa continues to be compelling, in our judgment."

Delta is the furthest along of all the major airlines, Dawson said. The airline is benefiting from better financial management and more disciplined management of its fleets. "We are in because these are much better companies than they used to be."

Dawson likes retail company VF Corp. because it brings its financial discipline to the companies it acquires and lets those companies focus on their customers and product.
