( SLR) led the day's winners, gaining 28 cents, or 4.5%, to $6.49, and was followed by

, which rose 58 cents, or 3.3%, to $18.27.

The TSC 21 index, initiated on July 3 as an indicator of an economic recovery, completed the shortened holiday week up 43 points, or 4.1% from its close of 1059.53 a week ago.

Overall, the index is up 102.46 points, or 10.2%, since its start at 1000.
